Manila buries maid who died in S'pore
MANILA (Reuter): Hundreds of Filipinos gathered yesterday to bury a Filipina maid who fell to her death from a Singapore apartment building last month, and her mother rejected an official finding that she might have committed suicide.
Angelina Palaming, who plunged to her death from her employer's nine-story apartment block on Dec. 7, was buried in the Tanay district cemetery.
Her five-year-old ward, who also fell, landed on her body and survived. "I cannot accept the finding that my daughter committed suicide," sobbing mother Soledad Palaming told reporters. "What will I do? She is now gone!" she said, adding the government should demand justice for her daughter.
Forensic experts from the Philippines and Singapore have both said there was no evidence the maid was murdered or that she was sexually abused.
