Manggarai to Remain Main Transport Hub Despite Gambir Station Beautification
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has confirmed that Manggarai Station will remain the primary transport hub, despite the government’s plans for the ‘beautification’ of Gambir Station as a showcase for connectivity services serving both long-distance trains and the KRL Commuter Line. Dudy stated that the function of Manggarai Station as a transport hub will not change, even with the redevelopment and service updates at Gambir. The development of Gambir Station aims to improve service quality while providing a more comfortable travel experience through enhanced intermodal connectivity. Through this concept, the government hopes the public can utilise Gambir Station as a connectivity node for railway services, while Manggarai Station continues its role as the main transport hub. Currently, Manggarai Station serves the Jabodetabek KRL (Commuter Line), Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta.
