Manggarai riots holds trains

JAKARTA (JP): Trains heading for and leaving Jakarta through Manggarai station in South Jakarta were held up for one and a half hours on Sunday evening due to attacks by unidentified people against local people in the area.

A policeman told Antara news agency that the attackers came from the Senayan stadium, apparently after watching the soccer match between Indonesia and China, at which China beat Indonesia 2-0.

But the policeman could not yet say what had prompted the dissatisfied spectators to attack Manggarai residents.

The police, in cooperation with officials from the state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia, managed to control the situation, and after one and a half hours, trains were able to pass through the station.
