Manggarai Projected to Become a Transportation Hub

President Prabowo Subiandum inaugurated the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route on Wednesday (16/09/2026). During the event, the President noted that the Manggarai area has developed into a crucial transportation hub for mobility in Jakarta and its surrounding regions.

The presence of various modes of transport in Manggarai—ranging from the LRT, KRL Commuter Line, TransJakarta, Jabodetabek transport, to the airport train—demonstrates a significant shift in the urban transportation system. Prabowo described this integration as an achievement that was unimaginable just a few years ago.

“It was said 5 or 6 years ago, who would have thought we would have a transportation system like we do now. In Manggarai, there is the LRT, KRL, TransJakarta, Jabodetabek transport, and the airport train; this has become a transport hub,” Prabowo stated in Jakarta.

The President emphasised that this transport development is part of the management of the Jabodetabek agglomeration area. He estimated that this metropolitan area now houses approximately 42 million people, making it one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.

According to Prabowo, given the massive population scale, transport management is a vital pillar in the nation’s transformation. He also encouraged that the development of transport hubs be accompanied by the provision of vertical housing for low-income communities (MBR) around these areas.

Integration in Manggarai is expected to make public mobility more efficient by bringing various services together at a single point. Prabowo stated that this progress is the result of a development process carried out gradually and orderly.

“Today is a proud day that our nation continues to progress in an orderly manner; perhaps not fantastically, but we are moving forward, step by step,” he concluded.
