Aid for earthquake victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) continues to flow from both central and regional governments. In this effort, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is playing a role in aid distribution and personnel deployment.

One such effort was a visit by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, accompanied by Chair of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives Siti Hediati Hariyadi and NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, to the Barang Kolo evacuation post in Reok District, Manggarai Regency, on Tuesday (18/8).

During the visit, the National Police Chief inspected the condition of evacuees and health services, and spoke directly with residents affected by the earthquake. He also provided moral support to children through trauma healing activities.

The delegation handed over assistance comprising 2,000 food packages, mattresses, water tanks, medicines, and 250 children’s toys to support the needs of evacuees.

The National Police Chief affirmed Polri’s commitment, together with the government and all stakeholders, to continue supporting the handling of communities affected by the earthquake through to the post-disaster recovery period.

Meanwhile, Manggarai Police Chief AKBP Levi Defriansyah said the presence of the National Police Chief and the Commission IV leadership provided moral support for victims as they go through the post-earthquake recovery phase.

“This visit is a tangible manifestation of synergy between the government, the Indonesian House of Representatives, and Polri in providing aid and support to communities affected by the disaster, while also strengthening residents’ morale in facing the post-earthquake recovery process,” said AKBP Levi.

In addition, the Manggarai Police Chief and Tantri Levi, as chair of the Manggarai branch, continue to distribute social assistance in the form of food packages to independent posts in Reok District.

“Alhamdulillah, every day we continue to distribute aid to communities in Reok District,” said AKBP Levi.

He further stated that in relation to the ongoing earthquake disaster, AKBP Levi has deployed Manggarai Police personnel to help communities strengthen themselves after the earthquake.

“Our personnel go down to earthquake-affected communities every day to assist with recovery and strengthen communities after the earthquake,” said AKBP Levi.
