Manggarai LRT to Operate Daily from 5 AM to Midnight

The Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route will operate every day with service hours from early morning until midnight. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the LRT will operate from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB.

“The LRT president director has conveyed that this will operate the same as the KRL, from 5 in the morning until 24.00,” Pramono said while inspecting LRT Jakarta readiness at Manggarai Station, South Jakarta, on Thursday (13/8/2026).

With these operating hours, Pramono hopes the Jakarta LRT can become one of the backbones of public transport in Jakarta. “Thus, ladies and gentlemen, this becomes a new backbone,” he continued.

The Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route is 12.2 kilometres long and consists of 11 stations. The project readiness level has now reached 98 percent.

The LRT is estimated to carry around 60,000 passengers per day in the initial phase. That figure is projected to rise to 80,000 passengers under normal conditions.

“Previously, people travelling from Kelapa Gading or Pegangsaan Dua to Velodrome daily numbered around 4,000. Now, with this extension, it becomes a minimum of 60,000, and at normal capacity it will be 80,000,” he explained.

Pramono hopes the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT will be inaugurated in August 2026. At present, the remaining work mainly concerns signalling at several points, which is targeted for completion on 20 August.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing an extension of the LRT line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. Construction of that section is targeted to begin next year and be completed by August 2028.

“For the connection or completion of this route, I have discussed with the Finance Assistant, with Ibu Eli, and also with Jakpro. We will start next year and the funds are already available,” he said.

LRT connectivity is considered to strengthen Jakarta’s public transport network. Eventually, the LRT will be able to connect North Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Jakarta and Central Jakarta.

“If this is completed as a whole, what has been calculated now is that passengers up to Kelapa Gading–Manggarai are estimated at around 60,000 in the initial phase, and later when normal it will be around 80,000,” he added.
