Manggarai LRT Station Pedestrian Bridge Not Ready for August 2026 Launch
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is preparing a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) to connect Manggarai LRT Station with Manggarai KAI Station. However, this integration facility is confirmed not to be ready for use when LRT Jakarta Phase 1B is inaugurated in August 2026.
Head of the Railway Division at the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Burniandito Sukma, explained that the bridge is designed to directly connect the concourse area on the second floor of the station. In addition to the railway station, this access will also connect with the Trans-Jakarta bus stop in the area.
“Upstairs, on the second floor, in the concourse. Directly to the bus stop,” said Burniandito in Central Jakarta on Thursday (13/8).
This integration concept aims to create seamless connectivity for passengers. With the footbridge in the station area, users will no longer need to descend to the main road to transfer between LRT Jakarta, KAI Airport Rail Link, and Trans-Jakarta.
At present, the physical construction of the footbridge is still ongoing. In addition to the construction work, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also processing a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with PT KAI, given that the development utilises land owned by the railway operator.
Although the principle permit from KAI has been obtained, Burniandito stressed that the completion target for the footbridge does not coincide with the LRT inauguration ceremony this month. He estimates that the supporting facility will only be fully completed within the next few months.
“Construction is still in progress. But contractually it should be finished within the next two to three months,” he concluded.
