Mandarin spoken in Emerald Hotel

From Kompas

I often take guests to the Emerald Hotel in Jakarta, especially those from the People's Republic of China. Lately, however, I have been disappointed with the service.

One of my guests had a communication problem while at the hotel. While there is a Mandarin-speaking manager during the day, none of the employees speaks Mandarin in the evening. Consequently, my guest fell ill, because he was unable to order food in the evening. The hotel team could not understand what he wanted. The respective guest is one of my superior's children.

Taking in view the fact that the hotel is in the three-star range, we hope a Mandarin-speaking hotel employee to be available at all times.

The request is made so as to prevent a recurrence of miscommunication problems with guests from the People's Republic of China.

I wonder, how could have this slipped the hotel management's attention?
