Managing Driving Emotions During Ramadan
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Driving during Ramadan has its own set of challenges. Changes in physical condition, altered rest schedules, and feelings of hunger and thirst often affect drivers’ emotions on the road.
Traffic conditions, combined with the behaviour of other road users who are not always orderly, can easily trigger emotions. However, self-control is key to ensuring a safe journey to the destination.
“Consider traffic conditions as something that must be faced with patience, not confronted,” said Agus, when contacted by Kompas.com, recently.
According to him, the perspective on road conditions greatly determines the driver’s response. When congestion or violations by other road users are seen as challenges that must be “won”, emotions tend to be easily provoked.
He emphasised that the essence of fasting is not only about refraining from eating and drinking, but also about training patience and controlling emotions. These values should also be reflected in everyday driving behaviour.
“Emotions can be better controlled and the risk of accidents can be reduced; don’t forget to prioritise safety when riding a motorbike,” he said.
