Depok, Kompas.com - The management of the Public Cemetery (TPU) in Kampung Serab, Depok City, has stated that the paid parking practice located around the cemetery area is not officially managed by the operators.

This was conveyed following complaints from several visitors regarding the Rp 5,000 parking fee around the TPU.

“We don’t know if it’s from the RT or RW, there’s no discussion about this with the management. It’s outside the cemetery management,” said one of the cemetery officials, Didi, when met at the location on Monday (23/3/2026).

The implementation of the fee is instead feared to create the impression of seeking profit from pilgrims.

“No, we operate on a voluntary basis for gratitude offerings; it’s fine if they don’t give, we don’t want it to seem like we’re charging for visits,” said Didi.

Didi explained that the paid parking area outside the TPU is not part of the official management.

On ordinary days, visitors can park their vehicles around the TPU without specific rules from the management.

However, there is a general customary fee applied in the cemetery area.

“On weekdays, you can park freely in front of the TPU, usually cars Rp 5,000, motorbikes Rp 2,000,” he said.

Didi reiterated that the management does not provide parking tickets or set official levies for visitors.

“We (the management) are from the RT and RW; basically, in one RW, there are several RWs with monthly allowances. Some get Rp 500,000, some Rp 700,000,” explained Didi.

Meanwhile, several visitors claimed they did not receive tickets when parking their vehicles around the location.
