Manado hosting Asian motocross

MANADO: North Minahasa regency in North Sulawesi will host the final leg of the Asian Motocross Championships from Nov. 11 to Nov. 12.

Chairman of the North Sulawesi chapter of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) Ronny Eman said on Wednesday the area was an appropriate site to host the event because of its favorable security situation.

The event would also have the potential to attract more foreign investment to the regency, he was quoted as saying by Antara news service.

James Robinson of New Zealand is currently atop the standings in the series.

"Based on IMI information, international motocrossers from Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., England and Italy have decided to participate in the event," Ronny said. -- JP
