Man with Severed Leg Near Seasons City in West Jakarta Misidentified as Robbery Victim, Police Confirm Traffic Accident
A video showing a man lying on the asphalt of Prof. Dr. Latumeten Street, Tambora, West Jakarta, near Seasons City Mall, went viral on social media.
The incident was reported as a robbery that occurred early Sunday (24 May 2026).
In the video uploaded by Threads account @eceuririn, the victim appeared in a dire state, with his right leg seemingly severed at the knee.
However, police confirmed the information was false.
Reskrim officer of Tambora Police Station, AKP Sudrajat Djumantara, stated that the circulating reports were hoaxes.
Sudrajat explained that the victim’s severed leg was not due to violence but a result of a severe collision during an accident.
The victim, identified as AP, collided with a concrete lamp post support.
“His leg broke upon hitting the concrete lamp post support,” said Sudrajat.
While passing the bend in front of Seasons City Mall, the victim lost control.
“While turning in front of Seasons City, before the busway stop, the victim could not control his motorcycle, causing him to hit the concrete lamp post support and be thrown across the road with his right ankle broken. The victim was under the influence of alcohol,” Sudrajat stated.
Meanwhile, the traffic accident case has been handed over to the Tambora Police Station’s Traffic Accident Unit.
