Man with Severed Leg in West Jakarta Confirmed Victim of Single-Vehicle Alcohol-Related Accident

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — A man identified as AP was found lying with his right leg severed near Mal Seasons City in Tambora, West Jakarta, confirmed to be a victim of a single-vehicle accident.

AKP Sudrajat Djumantara, head of the Reskrim unit at Tambora Police Station, stated the accident occurred as the victim was riding a motorcycle under the influence of alcohol.

“It was an accident, a single-vehicle crash; the victim was riding under the influence of alcohol,” Sudrajat said in a text message on Monday (25 May 2026).

According to Sudrajat, the circulating information was a hoax spread by irresponsible parties.

He explained that the accident began when AP was riding his motorcycle on Prof. Dr. Latumeten Street from Grogol towards Jembatan Dua. Upon reaching in front of Mal Seasons City, before Jembatan Besi Transjakarta bus stop, he lost control while turning and hit the concrete support of a street lamp post.

Regarding the victim’s leg being severed at the knee, Sudrajat confirmed it was caused by the impact of the crash, not a stabbing.

“Yes, it wasn’t a stabbing; his leg was severed from hitting the street lamp post support,” he said.

“A message on social media claimed, ‘This is the video of last night’s incident at Season City where there was a gang of robbers and the victim was stabbed until his leg was severed,’” the social media account’s post was quoted on Monday (25 May 2026).

Currently, the accident case has been handed over to the Traffic Accident Unit of Tambora Police Station. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, has been taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
