Man Who Terrorised Neighbours in Depok Charged with Multiple Offences
Police have elevated the status of a case involving the destruction of a resident’s house by a neighbour in Pancoran Mas, Depok City, West Java, to the investigation stage. The suspect, identified by the initials IN, is being charged with multiple articles relating to property damage and unpleasant conduct. “(The case) of destruction, which is suspected to be terror, based on the investigators’ findings, we have added the article on unpleasant conduct,” said Metro Depok Police Public Relations Head AKP Hendra Kurniawan to reporters at the Metro Depok Police headquarters on Wednesday (22/7/2026). AKP Hendra stated the suspect is charged under Article 521 of Law Number 1 of 2023 (the new Criminal Code) concerning the criminal act of destroying another person’s property. Additionally, Article 448 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code regulates the criminal act of coercion. “Yes, there are two articles, unpleasant conduct and the article on destruction. Article 521 and Article 448,” he revealed.
Police disclosed the results of the examination of the suspect in the destruction of a resident’s house in Pancoran Mas, Depok City, West Java. The two parties had frequently been in disagreement or quarrelling since 2024. “As I conveyed some time ago, this problem has been ongoing since 2024. They have been in disagreement since that year. The reported party also has his own version, that there were also some disagreements and quarrels,” said Metro Depok Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama when contacted by reporters on Monday (20/7). AKBP Made stated the victim and the reported party had frequently clashed since 2024. The conflict had been mediated by several parties but continued until the destruction of the victim’s house fence. “And in 2024, there was also a clash between the reported party and the complainant. However, no police report was made because it was reconciled at that time by residents, the RT/RW, and the Bhabinkamtibmas. The quarrels have continued until now,” he explained. Since then, the two parties have continued to disagree. Unable to tolerate the suspect’s behaviour any longer, the victim finally filed a police report. “So, according to the reported party’s version, based on the examination results I read earlier, it is not exactly a grudge, but since then they have continued to disagree and frequently quarrel,” he said. “Finally, the incident last week occurred. The victim felt they could no longer endure it, and although it was often mediated, it happened repeatedly. They finally made a report regarding the destruction,” he added.
It is known that the family home of Azis Suraji in Pancoran Mas, Depok, became the target of terror by their neighbour. The terror was so severe that Azis’s family decided to sell their house. The neighbour’s terror went viral on social media. From circulating CCTV footage, a man was seen throwing a helmet at the neighbour’s house belonging to Azis’s family. Before throwing the helmet, the man was seen pacing back and forth on a motorcycle in front of the victim’s house fence. On a different day, the same man was seen dumping rubbish at the victim’s house. Several residents tried to intervene to stop the man’s actions, but a commotion ensued.
