Man Who Harassed Chinese Tourist in Lovina 'Summoned' by Village Officials, Family Issues Statement
The Kalibukbuk Village Government in Buleleng, Bali, has taken action following the sexual harassment of a Chinese national in the Lovina tourist area. The perpetrator, identified as Wayan Sedana, a resident of Kalibukbuk Village, was summoned to the village office for questioning and guidance.
Kalibukbuk Village Head I Ketut Suka confirmed the intervention on Tuesday (11/8/2026). “We have provided guidance. We even threatened that if he repeats such behaviour, we will take firm action,” he stated.
The village also contacted the man’s family. According to the family, Sedana has been difficult to control. “We tried asking residents and contacted his family. According to his sibling, he is indeed uncontrollable,” Suka explained.
Despite his erratic behaviour, Suka clarified that the village has not concluded that Sedana is a person with a mental disorder (ODGJ). “I wouldn’t say he is ODGJ. Sometimes when you talk to him he is lucid, but sometimes he rambles,” he noted.
As part of the resolution at the village level, the family was summoned and has since made a written statement. They have committed to supervising Sedana more closely to prevent similar incidents from recurring. “It was resolved yesterday; his family came. They made a written statement at the village office,” Suka said.
The incident came to light after a video posted by the victim, identified as Aurosa, went viral on social media. The footage showed the local man approaching the tourist under the guise of friendliness before inappropriately touching her. Aurosa recounted that she initially thought the man was being welcoming, but later realised he had touched her inappropriately during the prolonged handshake. She described crying on her way back to her accommodation and being left traumatised by the experience.
