Man Who Assaulted Petrol Station Attendant in East Jakarta Faces Two Years in Prison
A man with the initials JMH (31) has been named a suspect in the assault of a petrol station attendant in the Cipinang area, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. JMH faces a sentence of two years in prison.
Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said that JMH was charged under Article 466 of the Criminal Code regarding assault, with a maximum prison sentence of two years and six months.
“Or a fine of up to IDR 50 million, and/or Article 471 of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of six months or a fine of up to IDR 10 million,” said Commissioner Budi, as reported by Antara, Thursday (26/2/2026).
He explained that the perpetrator was confirmed to be a civilian and works as a private entrepreneur. In a video that went viral, JMH claimed to be a general.
“From the results of the investigation, the person concerned is not a member of the Police. We emphasize that there is no involvement of police personnel in this incident,” he said.
He also ensured that the handling of the case was carried out professionally and transparently. Officers have also secured evidence in the form of a pair of vehicle license plates, a Toyota Vellfire car, a recording of the assault, and the victim’s clothing.
“Acts of violence against the public cannot be justified. We will take firm action against every violation of the law without exception. The investigation process is carried out in accordance with procedures and applicable legal provisions,” said Budi.
He invited the public to remain calm and wise in responding to information circulating on social media.
“We urge the public not to be easily provoked by unverified information. Trust the process of handling the case to the police. If you find a similar incident, immediately report it via the 110 service or the nearest police station so that it can be followed up immediately,” he said.
After a urine test, JMH was also found to be positive for the use of methamphetamine and marijuana.
“After a urine test, the suspect JMH alias A (31) tested positive for the use of methamphetamine and marijuana. In a follow-up examination, the suspect also admitted to having consumed ecstasy,” said the Chief of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, during a press conference at the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Wednesday (25/2).
