Man under the influence of alcohol assaults friend, causing broken nose in West Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A man identified as JM is suspected of assaulting his friend, KS, in the Taman Daan Mogot Raya area of Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta (Jakbar), in the early hours of Friday (29 May). The victim is reported to have sustained severe injuries, including a broken nose. Grogol Petamburan Police Chief AKP Reza Aditya stated that the victim has officially filed a police report regarding the assault. ‘He has filed the report, and we took the suspect to Grogol Petamburan Police Station the same day,’ Reza said when contacted on Monday. Meanwhile, Grogol Petamburan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Alexander Tengbunan said both men involved in the incident were under the influence of alcohol. ‘Yes, correct. The assault occurred in front of an alcohol-selling establishment located on Taman Daan Mogot Raya Street, Tanjung Duren Utara, Grogol Petamburan,’ Alex said. According to social media videos, the altercation escalated as the two sat on the roadside, partially undressed. The suspect then kicked the victim in the face. Police officers who received a report from residents about the disturbance quickly arrested suspect JM. ‘Immediately after, the duty officer arrested the suspect and is now questioning him while taking statements from the victim,’ Alex said. Regarding the victim’s broken nose injury, police stated they are awaiting official medical examination results. ‘Information suggests the victim’s nose is broken, but we are still investigating and will confirm it based on a medical report and doctor’s statement,’ Alex said. JM is currently undergoing intensive questioning at Grogol Petamburan Police Station.
