Man to face trial for fraud

JAMBI, Jambi: The high court will begin the trial of a
businessman suspected of embezzling Rp 1.2 billion (US$545,000)
in reforestation funds.

Earlier, the district court refused to try HT alias Apai, 43,
because it considered the dossier invalid. But the prosecutors
appealed.

"The high court will open the trial soon, possibly at the end
of the month," said chief of the high court Soekirno as quoted by
Antara.

Apai, a timber tycoon, is charged of evading taxes that caused
the state to lose Rp 1.2 billion. (pan)
