Man Tied to Electricity Pole in Samarinda After Eloping with Married Woman

A video of a man in Samarinda, identified as S alias Z (46), tied to an electricity pole has gone viral on social media. It was later revealed that S had eloped with a married woman, identified as R (33).

The Head of Public Relations for the Samarinda Police, Ipda Arie Soeharyadi, stated on Thursday (6/8/2026) that the case began when S was introduced to R through her friend. The perpetrator claimed he was under the impression the woman was single.

‘The perpetrator knew the victim through her friend. At that time, the perpetrator thought the victim was still single or did not have a husband,’ Arie said.

Arie explained that on Tuesday (4/8), S invited R out. They ate meatballs in the Folder area of Samarinda. Later that evening, they went out again to eat fried rice near the Air Hitam flyover.

After eating, S invited R to stay overnight at a small prayer house in the Suryanata area. R’s husband then received information about his wife’s whereabouts and immediately went to the location.

Upon arrival, the victim’s husband was shocked to find his wife with the perpetrator. Enraged, the husband then assaulted and tied the perpetrator to an electricity pole. Arie stressed that the perpetrator was not the target of a mob attack, as had been widely reported.

Following the incident, S was taken to the Samarinda Ulu Police Station for questioning. Both parties subsequently underwent a mediation process and agreed to resolve the matter amicably.
