Man suspected of murdering wife in Angke, West Jakarta, arrested by police

Jakarta - Police have arrested a man with the initials ES (30) after he allegedly murdered his wife, identified as R (40), at the victim’s residence on Jalan Padamulya VIII, RT/RW 001/09, Angke, Tambora, West Jakarta. “The suspected perpetrator has been arrested. The case is now being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Resort Police,” said Tambora Police Chief AKP Wahyu Hidayat when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday evening. The arrest stemmed from a report received by the Tambora Police Sector regarding the discovery of the victim’s body inside her home at around 3 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. “The Sector Police’s Quick Reaction Unit then proceeded to the crime scene and found the victim deceased in a seated position, with a bedsheet wrapped around her neck and tied to a window grille,” Wahyu said. Police officers examined several witnesses in the vicinity and obtained information that the victim was allegedly killed by her husband. “While the Quick Reaction Unit was securing the crime scene, the perpetrator came out of his house and was subsequently detained and taken to the Tambora Police Sector,” Wahyu stated. Previously, a housewife with the initials R (40) died after allegedly being murdered by her husband, ES (30), at their home on Jalan Padamulya VIII, RT/RW 001/09, Angke, Tambora, West Jakarta, on Friday afternoon at around 3 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The Head of Criminal Investigation at the West Jakarta Metro Resort Police, AKBP Irfan Sipayung, confirmed the suspected murder. “Yes, it is true, the victim died and is suspected of being killed by her husband,” said Irfan when contacted by ANTARA on Friday evening. Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Tambora Police Sector, AKP Sudrajat Djumantara, added that the victim was allegedly killed using a pink bedsheet. “It cannot yet be confirmed. But the preliminary suspicion is that she was strangled with a bedsheet. There is evidence of the bedsheet at the crime scene,” said Sudrajat when contacted separately.
