Man stabs his own wife

JAKARTA (JP): A woman was stabbed by her estranged husband at their house in Bekasi, some 30 kilometers east of the capital Sunday.

Kuni binti Kucing, 40, was sleeping when her husband, Akhir, broke into the house and attacked her.

The 54-year-old man, who had moved out about a month earlier, broke down the back door of the house in Kampung Jajalan Raya, Tambun, Bekasi, at around 10 p.m.

Akhir repeatedly stabbed Kuni in the neck, breast and left arm. Akhir escaped when Ibrahim, a neighbor, answered Kuni's scream for help.

Akhir is still at large and police still do not know the man's motive for the attack.

The seriously wounded Kuni is in Bekasi hospital. (04)
