Man stabbed to death at home

JAKARTA (JP): An owner of a beauty parlor was stabbed to death at his residence on Jl. Galur Sari Raya, Utan Kayu in East Jakarta in the early hours of Monday, an officer said.

The chief of Matraman Police station, Ass. Supt. Marsidi, identified the victim as Nazirwan, alias Iwan Hadisuwarno, 40.

He was found with about 20 stab wounds to his body, the officer said.

Nazirwan was single and lived alone at his rented house. His body was taken to the morgue at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Central Jakarta.

Police rushed a suspect, Ahmad Raufik, 28, to the police hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. He had been beaten near the scene by locals. He has yet to be questioned.

According to Marsidi, at about 12:15 a.m. neighbors heard screams and shouts coming from Nazirwan's house, which also served as his beauty parlor.

A man was then seen fleeing from the house. He was later identified as Ahmad.

Marsidi said the police confiscated a dagger from him. There were no signs of forced entry at the house, leading the police to believe Nazirwan may have let him in. (07)
