Man stabbed in attempted robbery

JAKARTA (JP): A resident of Jl. Merak, Balaraja in Tangerang
was severely injured late Tuesday night when a group of three
unidentified men tried to rob his motorcycle.

The victim, Ahmad Fauzi, 23, was heading for Kampung Ceriyu in
Balaraja with his girlfriend when three men, who were also riding
motorcycles, forced him to stop, Antara reported.

"Without any warning, one of the three men stabbed Ahmad in
the neck and head, frightening his girlfriend, who fled to seek
help from nearby residents," Ahmad's father, Suwandi, said.

Two of the attackers fled the scene when several residents
arrived to help. The third was caught and mobbed by residents,
who later took him to a police station.

Ahmad was rushed to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for
medical treatment. (emf)
