Man stabbed after stopping dispute

JAKARTA (JP): A 72-year-old man was stabbed to death on Thursday morning by a man believed to have been involved in an earlier dispute with another resident.

According to his relatives, Hammim was killed at his home at the Sawah Lama village in Ciputat, Tangerang, about five hours after stopping a heated quarrel between two of his neighbors at the local neighborhood patrol post at 8 p.m..

"One of the men in the dispute was apparently dissatisfied with Hammim's solution. At 1 a.m., he brought his friends to visit Hammim's house.

"They knocked on the door and when Hammim opened it, the man immediately slashed his stomach with a sharp weapon," said one of the victim's relatives on Friday.

According to her, Hammim was rushed to Fatmawati hospital in South Jakarta before he passed away.

His body was then taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The local Ciputat police were still looking for the killer. (ivy)
