Man Sleeping in Museum Display Case Startles North Sulawesi Governor

A surprising moment occurred when North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus visited the former Minahasa Raad building in Manado City. Yulius caught a man sleeping inside a museum display case. Based on video footage, the man inside the case appeared to wake up and looked confused upon seeing the Governor’s entourage arrive. Yulius also looked startled. Yulius was known to have visited the former Minahasa Raad building in Manado City on Friday (7/8). Yulius acknowledged that the cultural heritage building is often used by residents, particularly street vendors, for resting. He said the historic building had been neglected. ‘Because it was left abandoned, they (residents) use this place to rest. Usually street vendors use it when they are tired,’ Yulius told reporters. He stated that the former Minahasa Raad building is a part of history that must be preserved. The North Sulawesi provincial government plans to repair the building after it fell into disuse and disrepair. ‘This Minahasa Raad will be repaired by the government, because this building is part of history,’ he added.
