Man Shot with Airsoft Gun Over Alleged Unpaid Cannabis Purchase in North Jakarta
A man with the initials SH, aged 23, was shot with an airsoft gun in Cilincing District, North Jakarta. The victim sustained multiple injuries from airsoft pellets fired from the weapon.
The Cilincing precinct commander, Senior Police Officer Bobi Subasri, stated that the shooting was allegedly connected to a cannabis purchase from one of the perpetrator’s group members. The shooting was carried out by an individual with the initials FA, who was accompanied by three associates.
“The incident is believed to have been triggered by a debt dispute of approximately 800,000 rupiah related to a cannabis purchase,” Bobi said in a statement from North Jakarta Metro Police District on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The incident occurred on Jalan Tipar Cakung Gang Kompi Jenggot, Sukapura Village, Cilincing District, on Sunday evening (8 March). The victim SH was travelling home after purchasing fried rice when one of the perpetrators’ associates pulled him over, leading to a group assault. When SH attempted to resist, the perpetrator produced an airsoft gun and fired at the victim.
“This resulted in gunshot wounds to the right leg and right back, as well as injuries to the left knee from falling,” he said.
After the airsoft pellets were depleted, nearby residents immediately apprehended the perpetrator. Residents subsequently reported the incident to the National Police call centre 110.
Officers from Cilincing precinct arrived at the location and arrested the perpetrator who had been secured by residents. Police took statements from witnesses and secured evidence including one Glock 19 airsoft gun and five pellets.
Initially, the case was suspected to be an attempted motorcycle theft. Bobi urged his team to respond swiftly to every community report to provide the best service as protector, guardian, and servant of society.
“Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Cilincing Precinct is conducting further investigation into the perpetrators,” he said.
