Man Sets Himself on Fire Outside UN Headquarters in New York

An extreme act of protest occurred in the heart of the diplomatic world. A man reportedly set himself on fire in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York, United States, after planting a flag of the Tibetan government-in-exile on the pavement near the scene. The incident took place on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. local time, near the intersection of East 43rd Street and First Avenue. According to CCTV footage from the UN, the perpetrator was seen firmly planting a flag on the pavement before setting himself alight.
