Man nabbed in Cirebon for killing loan shark
JAKARTA (JP): An unemployed man has been arrested in Cirebon,
West Java, for allegedly killing a woman in Jakarta, police said
yesterday.
Lt. Col. Gories Mere, Chief of East Jakarta Police Precinct,
said the suspect, Donalcius Sitompul, was picked up from his
hideout in Kuningan district, Cirebon on Thursday.
Sitompul is accused of killing Sanikem, a resident of Kramat
Tunggak red light district on Tuesday over a debt dispute.
Gories said Sitompul had lent about Rp 20 million to the 38-
year-old victim, who refused to return the money. Sitompul is
from a well-off family.
The woman was picked up by the suspect's wife and taken to
their house in Utan Kayu, Matraman, East Jakarta to discuss the
debt.
Sitompul said the woman refused to pay back the money and
instead cursed him.
The suspect became angry and reportedly tried to strangled the
victim. He then cut her throat and stabbed her in the stomach
several times, Gories quoted the suspect as saying.
The victim's niece, identified as Sukenah, reported to police
on Wednesday that her aunt had not returned home since she
leaving with Sitompul's wife, Lenny Lisnawaty, on Tuesday
morning.
After receiving the report, police started to search for the
victim at Sitompul's house. They found Sanikem tied up and
wrapped in a sheet, with stab wounds to the neck and body.
Gories said police had to shoot the victim in the leg when he
resisted arrest.
The police also arrested Lenny, who could be charged with
conspiracy to murder. Lenny is still being questioned at the East
Jakarta Police Precinct.
Police also seized evidence including a knife, a clasp knife,
a length of rope and a sheet stained with blood. (05)
