Man missing at sea

SORONG, Irian Jaya: Search and rescue workers were still
looking for a man who has been missing since he fell from a ferry
into the sea on Thursday.

Sorong Port administrator A. Jarangga said the KM Dobonsolo
ferry was on its way from Biak to Ambon when the incident
happened.

The man, identified as Laimas, fell into the sea about one
mile from Sorong Port at 1:45 p.m.

An official of the state-owned shipping company PT Pelni,
Arifin, described Laimas as a man who suffered from an acute
mental disorder.

He said Laimas' relatives in Biak failed to inform the ferry's
crew members about his condition. "If they did, crew members
would have supervised him," he said as quoted by Antara. (pan)
