Man killed over debt

JAKARTA (JP): A Central Jakarta resident killed his neighbor
for not paying a Rp 25,000 debt.

Phong Jung Kwang, a driver in Sawah Besar, stabbed Busanto
Karyono, 45, in the left jaw after the later refused to pay his
Rp 25,000 (US$11) debt.

The murder took place in the victim's boarding house.

Chief of Sawah Besar Police Office, Maj. Sugeng Priyanto,
accompanied by the city police spokesman, Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna,
said that the victim died on the way to hospital.

Kwang, 31, admitted to having stabbed Karyono, who had refused
to return the money. But he said he did not intend to kill the
air conditioner mechanic.

According to the officers, the suspect said the victim had
repeatedly avoided paying his debt. (05)
