Man killed in toll road accident

JAKARTA: A 24-year-old passenger of a Toyota Kijang van, Rudi
Fahtiarudin, was killed on Monday when the vehicle smashed into a
bridge pylon on the Cikampek toll road.

Witnesses said the accident took place at about 5:15 a.m. near
West Karawang when the driver, Yayat Supriatna, lost control of
the vehicle while traveling from the direction of Jakarta.

Yayat was severely injured in the accident. Rudy, a resident
of Kampung Pulo, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, died at the scene.
Both Yayat and Rudy were taken to a nearby hospital in Cikampek.

A spokesman for toll operator PT Jasa Marga, Supangat, said
drowsy drivers were responsible for many accidents on toll roads.
