Man killed in revenge

TANGERANG (JP): An ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver was beaten to death in Serpong Wednesday over an alleged affair with the wife of one of his two attackers, police have said.

Tangerang Police chief Lt. Col. Aryanto Boediharjo said the victim, Ayuhan, 42, died in front of a coffee stall at about 7:30 p.m.

"Ayuhan was killed probably because he went out once with the wife of one of the two suspects. Apparently, the suspect took revenge on him," Boediharjo said.

A police officer who declined to be named said one of the suspects, Sanuri, a resident of Ciater village, was angry because he saw his wife, Ida, with the victim once.

But Boediharjo said police had yet to arrest the suspects and that the motive was still a matter of speculation.

"The murder took place in a quiet, dark place and occurred quickly. Eyewitnesses could not identify the suspects," he said.

Witnesses said a taxi stopped in front of the stall and that one of the passengers asked bystanders the address of the Indonesian Institute of Technology.

Suddenly the other passenger reportedly got out from the taxi and attacked the victim with a sickle. (41/jun)
