Man killed in Bongkaran

JAKARTA (JP): A man was beaten and stabbed to death yesterday
in the prostitution complex of Bongkaran, Central Jakarta.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Abubakar Nataprawira
said that residents found the victim, who was in his 30s,
screaming and lying on the ground in the early morning.

"The unidentified victim died on the way to the Cipto
Mangunkusumo general hospital," he said.

"The victim was thought to have been attacked by two men with
a knife and a steel bar," Abubakar said. The victim suffered from
serious head, chest and hand injuries.

He speculated that the attackers, who are still at large, knew
the victim. (jun)
