Man killed by single slash

JAKARTA (JP): A 24-year-old man was fatally slashed about 50 meters from his home in the Koja area of North Jakarta on Thursday morning, the parents of the victim said.

Parjono, 50, a resident of Jl. Bendungan Melayu, said his second son, Agung Legowo, was waiting at 5:30 a.m. for a bus to take him to work when a man slashed his back with a sharp weapon and fled.

A post mortem examination showed that the victim suffered a deep cut from a sickle which severed a vital artery. Agung, an employee at Texmaco textile firm in Cibitung, Bekasi, died on the spot.

Parjono quoted witnesses as saying the killer of his son was an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver, who once had a quarrel with the victim over a year ago.

"I remember when Agung taught his younger brother, Nano, to ride a motorcycle, they brushed against an ojek. The driver got very angry and almost had a fight with Agung. I thought everything was settled at the time," he said at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital's morgue.

Parjono gave no names.

A local police officer, who refused to be named, said at the morgue that the killer had been identified and would be arrested soon. (01)
