Man killed by noise youths

TANGERANG: A man died in hospital hours after being mobbed for shouting at a group of young men who were making a noise in order to wake up residents for sahur (predawn meal) on Jl. Chandra in Kelapa Kedaung village, Penunggangan Barat subdistrict, on Monday.

The victim, 25-year old Risman, who was woken by the din, was annoyed and shouted at the passing group.

After getting involved in a heated argument, the youths left.

But the group, led by Jaminta alias Otong, returned later and beat up Risman.

Risman was rushed to the Tangerang General Hospital but he died at 10:30 a.m. as a result of his injuries.

Jatiuwung Police subprecinct chief Insp. Aswin Sipayung said no suspects had been arrested as of Monday morning in connection with the incident.

"But the police will begin investigating the case soon," he said.--JP
