A man with the initials GS (37) has been arrested by police for stealing valuables belonging to his date, CNH (19). The suspect was apprehended after the victim reported the theft to the authorities.

“A man with the initials GS (37) was detained by officers after being proven to have made off with the victim’s belongings, namely a mobile phone and an iPad, with total losses estimated at around Rp 12 million,” said Grogol Petamburan Police Chief AKP Reza Aditya on Friday (12/6/2026).

The theft occurred at a hotel located on Jalan Tawakal Ujung Raya, Tomang Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta, on Friday (22/5).

“While the victim was showering, the perpetrator took the mobile phone and iPad that had been left in the hotel room,” he said.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police then conducted an investigation. Officers eventually discovered the whereabouts of the perpetrator, who frequently used a laundry service in the North Tanjung Duren area.

The perpetrator is currently being held at the Grogol Petamburan Police station to undergo further investigation.

“We urge the public to be more cautious when forming relationships with people they have just met and to always safeguard their valuables to avoid becoming victims of crime,” he appealed.
