Man in West Jakarta Dies After Being Attacked and Falling from the Second Floor of a Market

The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the incident. The event occurred on Sunday (May 10, 2026) at 02:00 WIB in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.

“The victim, a man with the initials DM, a resident of Palmerah, West Jakarta, experienced this incident in the Weston area or Grogol Market and was then taken to Tarakan Hospital,” he said.

Based on initial testimony from witnesses, the incident began with a commotion at the location, which then continued to the second floor of Grogol Market, West Jakarta. The victim is suspected of being attacked by several people, then fell to the ground floor and lost consciousness.

“Regarding information stating that the victim was thrown from the second floor, this is still under investigation,” he explained.

The Grogol Petamburan Police have received a report and conducted a crime scene investigation, questioned witnesses, and checked CCTV footage around the location. They are also investigating the parties suspected of being involved.
