Man in West Jakarta Caught with Crystal Meth During Police Raid
A man with the initials AK (31) was caught by police carrying crystal methamphetamine (sabu). This came to light after AK was intercepted during a stationary raid conducted by the Tamansary Metro Police Sector.
According to the West Jakarta Metro Police on Saturday (19/09/2026), the perpetrator was detained in front of the Tamansari District Office, Jalan Kemukus, Pinangsia, West Jakarta, at 01:30 WIB on Saturday (19/09).
“This raid is part of our efforts to maintain regional security and anticipate the circulation and abuse of narcotics. During the inspection, officers found a man carrying items suspected to be crystal methamphetamine,” said the Chief of Tamansari Metro Police, Commissioner Bobby M. Zulfikar.
Officers led by the Head of Criminal Investigation, AKP M. Fauzan Yonnadi, accompanied by the Head of the Narcotics Sub-unit, AKP Madjen Silaban, searched the suspect. Officers discovered one small plastic clip containing suspected crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.16 grams, several empty used plastic clips, and a drug paraphernalia set including a pipe.
Officers also seized a lighter, a cigarette pack, a mobile phone, and the motorcycle used by the suspect. Furthermore, based on the results of a urine test, AK tested positive for narcotics use.
“The individual was subsequently taken into custody along with all evidence for further investigation and legal processing. We are also conducting further investigations to uncover the origin of the goods,” explained Commissioner Bobby.
During the initial investigation, AK admitted to obtaining the crystal meth from an individual known as ‘BRO’ in the Kampung Bahari area on 18 September 2026 for a price of Rp 100,000. Police are currently continuing their investigation and are hunting for the party suspected of supplying the narcotics.
For his actions, the suspect is being processed under Article 609 paragraph (1) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 2026 regarding the Adjustment of the Criminal Code and/or Article 127 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
“We invite the community to work together to maintain the environment. If you become aware of any activities related to the circulation or abuse of narcotics, please report them immediately to the police so that we can take further action,” he emphasised.
