Man in Tabanan Beaten to Death by Mob After Being Caught Stealing Chicken, His Motorcycle Torched

A man with the initials KD died after being beaten by a mob in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Baturiti District, Tabanan, Bali. The mob attack occurred after KD was caught stealing a fighting cock at the location.

The incident took place on Friday (24/7) in the early hours at around 01.30 Wita. At the time, KD was caught red-handed stealing a chicken belonging to a resident named I Wayan Adi Suteja (31).

Tabanan Police Public Relations Head, Iptu Ni Luh Putu Wiwik Endrayani, stated that residents were enraged due to the frequent cases of chicken theft in the area and subsequently mobbed the suspect, resulting in his death at the scene.

Wiwik explained that personnel from the Baturiti Police Sector arrived at the location around 02.00 Wita. Upon arrival, officers found KD already dead. The victim’s motorcycle had also been set on fire by the mob.

At the scene, police secured a number of pieces of evidence, including the chicken that was about to be stolen, a machete, and a bag containing pliers, a slingshot, stones, and some cash.

Wiwik added that the Inafis team from the Tabanan Police Criminal Investigation Unit had processed the crime scene and conducted fingerprint identification. KD’s body was evacuated to Semara Ratih General Hospital in Tabanan.

The body was handed over to the family on Friday afternoon.
