Man in Serang Denies Killing Partner, but Police Hold Evidence
Police have named AH (36) as the suspect in the murder case of a woman identified by the initials IP (27), who was initially reported to have died by hanging in the Kampung Sepang Susukan area, Serang City. Although the perpetrator has denied the crime, police possess evidence suggesting that AH murdered his partner.
“For the time being, the suspect’s statement has not admitted to the crime. His account remains that when the victim was found, she was in a state of hanging,” said Iptu Angga Kusuma Wardana, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Serang City Police, on Friday (18/9/2026).
According to Angga, the police have several pieces of evidence suggesting AH killed IP. One such piece is testimony from witnesses who noted a disturbance between the suspect and the victim on Sunday (13/9) night.
“Between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM, residents heard three witnesses reporting a disturbance in the rented house. Consequently, these residents approached the premises to enquire about the noise,” he said.
The disturbance was noticed by neighbours due to the sound of breaking objects, specifically a glass jar being thrown.
“Because they heard not only a verbal altercation but also the sound of something being thrown, such as glass or shards. After being reprimanded to keep the noise down,” Angga added.
“The suspect claimed, ‘This is just a marital matter,’ so the witnesses left the premises,” said Angga.
Angga noted that the suspect and the victim were not legally married, though they had told neighbours they were married under religious law (nikah siri) to live together in the rented house.
Bloodstains at the Crime Scene
Angga stated that the police conducted a crime scene investigation (CSI) at the location. In the rented house, police discovered numerous bloodstains.
“During our investigation, we found blood. It was present in several locations: first on the floor of the bedroom, then on the bedroom wall, and also on a wall near the living room,” Angga said.
Police also found traces of blood on the broken glass shards. Additionally, a fan with bloodstains was recovered.
“We also found blood droplets on the broken glass shards. These shards were found in the rubbish bin, inside a plastic bag in the kitchen,” said Angga.
“Furthermore, we found fragments of a fan. Two witnesses initially stated that the glass jar and the fan were located in the living room,” he added.
Police subsequently obtained strong evidence following the autopsy of the victim. There was no evidence to support the claim that the victim died by hanging, as initially presented by the suspect.
“From the preliminary autopsy results, no blood congestion was found in the neck muscles, and they felt soft, with no signs of pressure. In cases of hanging, there is typically pressure on the neck that causes difficulty in breathing,” he explained.
Motive of Jealousy
The man, identified as AH, staged the murder of his partner, IP, to appear as a suicide in Kampung Sepang Susukan, Serang City, Banten. AH eventually admitted to killing his partner due to intense jealousy.
Serang City Police Criminal Investigation Head, Kompol Alfano Ramadhan, stated that the murder occurred in a rented house in Serang City on Sunday (13/9) at approximately 6:00 PM WIB. The killing was preceded by an argument after AH became jealous and accused the victim of infidelity.
“The victim was involved in an altercation with AH regarding allegations of her infidelity with another man,” Alfano told reporters on Friday (18/9/2026).
The victim was initially found dead on Monday (14/9). AH was the one who discovered the body at that time.
In his initial statement, AH claimed to have found the victim hanging from a door frame. The body was subsequently evacuated to the hospital.
