Yes, the victim was attacked,” said a local resident who wished to remain anonymous, Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

He stated that one of the suspects is a TNI member stationed in Cimanggu District, while the other four are civilians. He was unaware of the specific role of the suspected TNI member in the incident. However, he noted that TNI personnel arrived at the scene immediately after the incident.

“After the incident, there were many TNI personnel. I don’t know if they were securing one of the suspects,” he said.

Pandeglang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Inspector Alfian Yusuf stated that police have detained four civilians in the case. They are identified as N, D, R, and S.

“We have now designated four individuals as suspects, two of whom are minors,” he said.

Alfian explained that the incident began when one suspect became frightened after being followed by the victim. Fearing for his safety, the suspect alerted others who then sought out the victim to carry out the assault around 10:30 PM on Saturday, 5 May.

“A fight and beating eventually broke out at a local warung, where the victim, identified as H, was covered in blood. Locals rushed him to the nearest community health center, but he died en route,” he said.

Forensic examination revealed the victim suffered stab wounds and blunt force injuries. The stab wound penetrated his lungs.

“There were blunt force injuries, as well as sharp force wounds to the head, hands, and body. The fatal injury was a stab wound to the back that pierced the lungs, leading to the victim’s death,” Alfian said.

Alfian declined to comment on the alleged involvement of the TNI member and directed media inquiries to Denpom Serang.

“Media should direct questions regarding this matter to Denpom,” he added.
