A man with the initials FIM (24) has been arrested for stealing cash and valuables worth Rp 400 million belonging to his girlfriend’s father. The perpetrator broke into the victim’s home whilst it was unoccupied.

The suspect FIM burgled the home of the victim, Candra Arya, on the morning of Tuesday, 10 February. FIM gained easy entry to the property as he was in possession of a house key.

FIM told police he had found the key to the victim’s home some time earlier. He planned the burglary for a time when the victim would be away at his catering shop.

“The suspect found the house key approximately one month prior, in front of the victim’s home,” said Pademangan Police Chief Kompol Imanuel Sinaga on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The victim is the father of FIM’s girlfriend. FIM and the victim’s daughter had been in a relationship for one year and two months.

The perpetrator was known to frequently visit his girlfriend’s home. FIM is believed to have already identified the locations of CCTV cameras on the property.

“This burglary was premeditated by the perpetrator, and he carried it out when the house was empty as the victim was at his catering shop, located just 100 metres from the residence,” said Imanuel.

Safe Containing Cash and Gold Stolen

The suspect FIM went to the victim’s home on Jalan Hidup Baru RT 12 RW 04, Pademangan Barat subdistrict, Pademangan district, North Jakarta, on the morning of Tuesday, 10 February. At the time, the house was empty and the electricity was off.

FIM went directly upstairs to the victim’s bedroom on the second floor and made off with a safe containing tens of millions of rupiah in cash along with various gold jewellery including bracelets and necklaces.

The safe contained Rp 80,950,000 in cash, as well as gold jewellery comprising six gold bangle bracelets weighing 15 grammes, six gold bangle bracelets weighing 14 grammes, and three gold bangle bracelets weighing 11 grammes. Additionally, there were 11 yellow gold bangle bracelets with an estimated weight of 28 grammes, one gold necklace weighing 8 grammes, a gold ring weighing 6 grammes, one ring with a black stone weighing 5 grammes, and a chain bracelet weighing 22 grammes.

FIM then took the victim’s safe to his rented accommodation and forced it open using a screwdriver. He separated Rp 60,950,000, the gold jewellery, and his wallet into a black plastic bag, which he stored in a corner of his lodgings.

The remaining Rp 20 million was wrapped in a helmet cloth inside a mobile phone box and hidden under a shelf. FIM subsequently discarded the safe and screwdriver in a river in the Pademangan Timur area.

“The perpetrator disposed of the safe and screwdriver in a river in the Pademangan Timur area, whilst he left the suitcase on the roadside. At approximately 12.30 WIB, the perpetrator returned to his lodgings,” Imanuel explained.

FIM was arrested the same day at 19.00 WIB. Police searched the premises and recovered the cash and jewellery belonging to the victim.

The perpetrator has been charged under Article 477 Paragraph (1) letter e of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
