Man in Musi Rawas Poisoned with Cyanide, Two Arrested
A man identified by the initial R (39) was found dead in a decomposed state in a river in Musi Rawas, South Sumatra, after being reported missing for two weeks. The victim is believed to have been murdered. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Musi Rawas Police, AKP Redho Agus Suhendra, stated that the victim was reported missing by his family on Friday, 5 June. On Friday, 19 June, the family received information that a resident of Raksa Budi Village had purchased a used mobile phone belonging to the victim. Following a police investigation, the victim’s body was discovered on the banks of the Pering River in Raksa Budi Village on Saturday, 20 June, at around 4 p.m. local time. It was determined that the victim had been murdered, and two suspects were immediately apprehended. ‘From the discovery of the body, we conducted a series of investigations and uncovered that the victim died from poisoning. We then carried out further inquiries until two suspects, identified as TW (25) and TS (21), were secured,’ said AKP Redho, as quoted by detikSumbagsel on Monday, 23 June 2026. TW is the main suspect in the premeditated murder, having allegedly given the victim a drink containing cyanide. TS acted as a receiver of the stolen goods. Police also seized several pieces of evidence from the suspects, including a sachet of male enhancement pills, two mobile phones of the Realme and Vivo brands, and a black Honda Revo Fit motorcycle belonging to the victim.
