Man in Buleleng Assaults His Child, Tests Positive for Drugs

Kepolisian Sektor (Polsek) Sukasada has detained a 43-year-old man with the initials SAR, a resident of Wanagiri Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, Bali. SAR is suspected of physically abusing his 17-year-old biological daughter. The case came to light after information regarding the alleged abuse of the teenage girl went viral on social media. Following up on the reports, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sukasada Police, along with duty personnel, the Community Security Officer (Bhabinkamtibmas), village military officers (Babinsa), and local village officials, visited the location on Sunday evening (12/7/2026) to conduct an investigation. During the initial examination, the victim, identified by the initials KS, admitted that the alleged abuse occurred around May 2026. The incident was triggered by an argument between the victim and her father after he forbade her from going out with the child of a man alleged to be her ex-wife’s lover. During the altercation, the victim claimed her father covered her mouth with his hand to force her to stop talking. The victim also stated that she often felt afraid when her father was angry, causing her to experience psychological distress. Under questioning, SAR acknowledged that the victim is his biological child and confirmed that an argument had taken place. He admitted to holding or covering the victim’s mouth out of emotion when she defied his advice. Furthermore, the perpetrator admitted to using narcotics. A urine test conducted by the police also returned a positive result for narcotics. Sukasada Police Chief Kompol I Wayan Sukarita stated that the handling of the case has been transferred to the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Buleleng Police because the victim is still a minor. Meanwhile, as the urine test results indicated the reported individual was positive for narcotics consumption, the handling of the suspected drug abuse has been handed over to the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Buleleng Police. ‘We have transferred the case handling to the PPA Unit and the Narcotics Unit of the Buleleng Police so that it can be processed comprehensively in accordance with applicable legal provisions,’ said Sukarita on Monday (13/7/2026). Police are urging the public not to commit domestic violence or violence against children. Residents are also asked to report immediately if they become aware of any suspected criminal acts or violence against children so that authorities can handle them promptly.
