Man in Bogor Dies After Jumping from Bridge, Posted Instagram Status Before Death

A 23-year-old man identified as GR died after jumping from a bridge and falling onto the footpath alongside the Cipakancilan River in Kampung Keramat, Panaragan Village, Bogor City. GR is suspected to have taken his own life and reportedly wrote about his plans on his social media account.

Bogor Central Police Station Chief Waluyo stated on Sunday (24 May 2026) that the victim, GR (23), had jumped from the bridge and fallen onto the pavement beside the Cipakancilan River. Residents who witnessed the jump immediately alerted others. They found the victim still alive and rushed him to PMI Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:23 PM.

Investigations revealed the victim was suspected to have committed suicide by jumping from the bridge. This was corroborated by family members, who stated the victim had posted on social media about his intent to take his own life.

Family members confirmed the victim had created an Instagram story prior to the incident stating his intention to commit suicide, Waluyo added. The victim’s body was handed over to the family and taken to the Sinar Kasih funeral home.
