Man in Bima Attacks Father-in-Law with Machete After Divorce Dispute
A man identified by the initials SL (28) launched a violent attack on his father-in-law, AD (58), using a machete following a dispute over his wife’s decision to divorce him. The suspect, a resident of Parado Wane Village, Parado District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is currently being pursued by the police.
“It is true, the incident occurred last night,” stated the Chief of Parado Police, Inspector Ady Darmeawan, when confirmed on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
Inspector Ady revealed that the alleged assault involved a son-in-law (SL) and his father-in-law (AD). According to witness statements at the crime scene, the man was slashed by his son-in-law while sitting in front of a resident’s house.
“The victim (AD) was suddenly attacked by SL while sitting at a local resident’s home,” he added.
As a result of the assault, the victim sustained wounds to his arm and left leg. He was subsequently rushed to the Monta Community Health Centre (Puskesmas) for medical treatment.
“The victim is currently receiving intensive care at the Monta Community Health Centre,” said Ady.
Ady emphasised that the police are conducting an ongoing investigation and are actively hunting for SL. After striking AD more than twice, the suspect managed to flee the scene. The motive for the attack is strongly suspected to be the suspect’s refusal to accept the divorce from his wife, who is the victim’s biological daughter.
