Man in Aceh Arrested After Assaulting Former Husband of His Wife, Evaded Police for Months

A man with the initials MN (30), a resident of a village in Beutong District, Nagan Raya regency, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Nagan Raya Police Station, Aceh, after three months as a fugitive.

The suspect is implicated in an assault case that occurred in Mon Bateung Village, East Senagan District. This was disclosed by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Nagan Raya Police Station, Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Rizal.

“We arrested the suspect in front of a rice mill in Babah Krueng Village area, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency,” he stated on Monday, 16 March 2026.

He explained that the arrest of suspect MN was carried out by police after the fugitive returned to his residence in Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency. When officers arrived at the suspect’s house, MN was no longer there. Officers then contacted him by telephone to arrange a meeting to discuss the matter.

The meeting took place in front of a rice mill owned by a resident in Babah Krueng Village, Beutong District, Nagan Raya. After receiving an explanation from officers, suspect MN was ultimately secured without resistance and taken to Nagan Raya Police Headquarters for further legal processing.

Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Rizal explained that the arrest of MN relates to an alleged assault against a man with initials LR, which occurred in Mon Bateung Village, East Senagan District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh on 17 December 2025, in accordance with Police Report Number LP/B/123/XII/2025/SPKT/Polres Nagan Raya/Polda Aceh.

In this case, suspect MN is charged with violating Article 466(1) of the Criminal Code concerning the criminal offence of assault.

Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Rizal stated that the assault occurred on Wednesday, 17 December 2025 at approximately 13:00 local time in Mon Bateung Village, East Senagan District.

The incident began when suspect MN and his wife visited LR’s house, the former husband of MN’s wife, with the intention of collecting their biological child from his wife’s previous marriage. Upon arriving at the victim’s residence, a conversation ensued which subsequently escalated into an argument between the perpetrator’s wife and her former husband. The situation became increasingly tense until suspect MN became directly involved in a physical altercation with victim LR.
