Man Goes Viral for Harassing Woman on JR Connexion Bus Issues Apology
A man named Fariz Maulana has apologised following his indecent actions involving the harassment of a female passenger on the JR Connexion bus, route Juanda-Tamansari. The perpetrator claimed he acted out of a momentary lapse in judgement and promised not to repeat his actions.
“I, Fariz Maulana (stating ID number), declare that I made a mistake and apologise to the lady sitting next to me on the Blok M-Bogor bus. The bus departed from Jakarta on 17 September 2024 at approximately 17:45 WIB,” said Fariz in a video obtained by detikcom on Friday (18/9/2026).
Fariz admitted his mistake and promised to repent, stating that the incident would serve as a lesson for him.
“This incident is a valuable lesson for me, and I repent to Allah SWT,” he said.
The man, wearing a red shirt, stated he is prepared to take responsibility if he commits similar immoral acts against the victim or any other woman in the future.
“If I do this again, whether to her or to others, I am prepared to be held accountable according to the applicable legal provisions,” he added.
The Head of the Jagorawi Toll Road PJR, Commissioner Akhmad Jajuli, stated that Fariz Maulana was detained at the Jagorawi PJR Headquarters on Thursday (17/9) evening after allegedly harassing a female passenger. Fariz was subsequently interrogated there.
Jajuli mentioned that the perpetrator has also apologised directly to the victim. The perpetrator has signed a written statement promising not to repeat the offence.
“They have forgiven each other, and the perpetrator has made a formal statement,” Jajuli said separately.
Jajuli noted that the victim’s husband arrived at the PJR office upon learning that his wife had been harassed. The victim and her husband ultimately chose not to pursue the matter through legal proceedings and have forgiven the perpetrator.
“Last night, we asked if they wanted to proceed to the local police station; we would have escorted them, but the victim’s side decided otherwise. The husband also came directly to the PJR office last night,” said Jajuli.
“Officers also asked the husband last night whether he wanted to take it to the police station or not. However, that was their decision. The perpetrator has made a formal statement,” he concluded.
