Man gets 3 years over hotel attack

JAKARTA: The South Jakarta District Court sentenced on Tuesday a man to three years on charges stemming from the 2003 bombing of the J.W. Marriott Hotel.

Ismail, alias Edi, was jailed for hiding two alleged masterminds of a series of terror attacks that have rocked the country for the past few years, Malaysians Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Moh. Top.

"I acknowledge my mistake in this case," Ismail told the court. "I hid them just because they were my Muslim brothers."

Earlier, a court spokesmen incorrectly identified the man as Ismail alias Muhammad Ikhwan, and said he was accused of helping transport the explosives in the attack.

Tuesday's verdict means 12 people have been sentenced over the hotel blast. -- AP
