Man from Madiun Allegedly Absconds During Tour in South Korea
A tour participant from Madiun named Femas (22) has allegedly absconded during an open trip to South Korea. He was reported missing after excusing himself to look for shoes in the Myeongdong area of Seoul. Marketing Manager of Berani Backpacker, Wiky, stated that the group departed from Jakarta on 27 June 2026. On the first evening of the tour, 28 June 2026, all participants were given free time after the scheduled agenda was completed. At that time, around five to seven participants, along with the tour leader, were walking around the Myeongdong area. It was there that Femas excused himself, claiming he wanted to look for shoes. According to Wiky, Femas was actually sharing a room with the tour leader. When the tour leader returned to the hotel, he sent a message asking Femas to come straight to the room as the door had been propped open for easier access. ‘We waited until morning, but he never returned. His WhatsApp messages sometimes showed one tick, sometimes two, but he never replied,’ he said. Initially, the travel agency thought Femas might have gotten lost or encountered some problem on the way. The tour leader and the local team searched the last area where Femas was seen and tried to contact him repeatedly. ‘By the fourth day, our local team tried to file a report with the Korean Police. However, the report was rejected because there was no criminal element. He was categorised as having consciously separated himself, not as a missing person,’ Wiky explained.
